But although the artists concerned have achieved the fifteen minutes of fame they seek, the attention they are getting is more akin to that which Paris Hilton receives rather than lionization as ground breaking free thinkers.
It seems that the police hierarchy have introduced a half-day course on ethics in response to a recommendation from the Bazley commission.
105 police officers have been specially trained to deliver this new wisdom, ethics according to the Head Office of the New Zealand Police.
Surely ethical behavior and morality are learned over a lifetime starting from the cradle not from a power point presentation developed in a Wellington high rise.
But such is the hubris of our masters they believe that in a mere 4 hours they can transform an individual who might otherwise intimidate a youngster into sex with a police baton into a paragon of virtue.
Does anyone really believe such things are possible?
Coming from a country where a taniwha can hold up civil engineering projects this level of cultural insensitivity is astounding - all the more so since it seems the Israeli government seems unwilling to step in to protect a site of great importance in Jewish religious history.
But then cultural sensitivity is often a one way street in these multicultural times.
A long time ago Marxist and Trotsky disciple Antonio Gramsci identified that married people were more content and therefore less likely to participate in the revolution to that would herald the glorious workers utopia.
Marriage as an institution (along with the Church) had to be undermined.
And undermined it has been.
Today in New Zealand 40% of marriages end in divorce and if you count the break up of co-habitees, those that quite frankly haven't even bothered with the pretense of making a public commitment to each other the rate is probably far higher.
And yet all the research shows that those who do commit and keep to their vows (both men and women) are richer - financially, emotionally and spiritually than those who don't.
Of course one of the most fruitful areas for attacking marriage has been "domestic abuse". Pathological relationships have been highlighted in the media to such an extent that many see marriage as akin to some sort of brutal slavery for women.
Always remember that socialism is based on having a large pool of dissatisfied, unhappy and unfulfilled people to provide its base and that the policies of socialism by necessity must create and keep people in that state in order to survive.
So bear that in mind when you here politicians rabbit on about some favored policy to solve some social problem.
