Lucyna

This is really interesting.

What are the chances that the US military is very aware of what happened in Nazi Germany with regards to highly militaristic male supremist homosexuals taking over the army, who then had free reign to take over Germany.

Or maybe it's one of those things that has real historical significance and the military are not totally aware of the why, only the what.

towaka

I have heard of Hitler being a self loathing homosexual but I am not sure about a whole cabal of homosexuals running nazi Germany!

Lucyna

Let me give you a reference for that, Towaka. The Pink Swastika. Apparently, it was common knowledge right up to the 60's.

Peter

This was just a personal opinion by Peter Pace.

Of course gay people can work effectively in the military. A gay couple could be operating anywhere where you find a heterosexual couple.

Military police do have tighter rules for the troops than civilian police for civilians.

All the same, this kind of inconsistency should not be tolerated.

towaka

Thanks for that Lucyna,It all makes sense when you think of the Greeks and there militarism/homosexual connection and the modern parallels with the nazis.

Peter

Towaka

A Nazi connection did not occur to me but yes..

Hitler did not like gays and Peter Pace does not like them either.

Not sure if this is because of Christian fundamentalism or extreme right wing political views. The two factions are allies on this issue in any case.

andrei

You miss the point as usual peter.

There are plenty of professions where a higher moral standard is required than the strictly legal standard.

Several Doctors a year, for example, are struck off for inapproproiate sexual activity and rightly so.

Under the current scenario Gays can serve in the Military, thay just must not make it obvious.

Whats wrong with that?

As for calling Adultery and homosexual activity sinful behaviour, well that has been the majority view for most of the past 200o years.

And there are profound social reasons why this is so and that is reflected in religious proscriptions of such behaviour.

Gods laws as understood by Christians are not some petty tyranny but in fact were given because those that follow them tend to have happier, healthier and more fullfilled lives than those that don't. Furthermore thay do less harm to others by following the moral rules set down by the Church.

Where would Clint Rickards et al be today if they had not been Adulterers (at a minimum) ?

I know you'll pooh pooh this but the reality is there is plenty of data to support this,

Carol

Andrei you are nasty to compare adultery and homosexuality. One is infidelity. The other may or may not be.

Suspicious of any views held for 2000 years. Clearly overdue for a challenge.

Lots of married people form new relationships and live together these days. Christians included.

It is not surprising to hear you deciding how to make others think they are happy. Typical.

Andrew Davies

An American lesbian I know would agree with you Andrei. She did not want to be defended by an army containing homosexuals because of the cohesion thing you mentioned above.

Now I know she is only one person and many would disagree but I was surprised and fascinated by her take on it.

Carol

U guys are nuts. The military contains mail and female anyway. What about cohesions of guy sleeping with girl.

They shuld all be reading Playboy and Playgirl for their thrills. Or reading this blog.

andrei

Well Carol integrating males and females in the same units has caused untold problems.

Like this from the British Navy a few days ago Royal Navy sailor jailed for rape

There have been similar issues in the NZ Navy and throughout the US military.

The left run with the hares and hunt with the hounds over this stuff.

The demand that boundaries be lowered then when they are and the inevitable consequences follow jump up and down and get all excited about their pet causes.

Carol

Rape should not be allowed. Not even in the military. It is a crime.

Males and females work together in retail, factories, offices.

I suppose there must be the odd rape in those other work scenarios as well?

Andrew Davies

Carol said

Carol, Christianity has been challenged from the day it started. Most, if not all, Jesus disciples were executed. There have been ebbs and flows, the Dark Ages then the Reformation for example. When it ebbs somewhere (the West for the moment) it flows elsewhere (huge growth in Africa).
Many of the challenges have come from within. There is nothing new in the Lloyd Geerings of this world, they have been around in various forms for 2000 years as have athiest attacks (Soviet Russia).

Despite all this it is still here. The claims of Christ are the same today as they ever were, as are the consequences of our response to them. The choice Christ gave us is still available no matter what you and all your mates "challenge" it with.

andrei

Carol there is a big difference between the 9 to 5 work day scenario and the military where groups of people are often confined together in close quarters in some cases for months at a time.

If you have ever been in such situations you would realize how even trivial things, such as a persistant cough can become major irritations, let alone a guy hitting on you.

Peter

"There have been ebbs and flows, the Dark Ages then the Reformation for example. When it ebbs somewhere (the West for the moment) it flows elsewhere (huge growth in Africa)."

The Dark Ages was a definite flow for Christianity, but a massive ebb for mankind! Just a tiny period of 1000 years or so - nothing major of course!!

The Reformation - was an ebb for the Church with authority - the church of St Peter. Not sure about the flow although blood did flow as is often the case in Christian factionalism. If the Reformation had not given rise to fundamentalism I suppose we would call it a flow.

Christian missionaries are like Tobaccoo companies. The Western world has largely woken up to their tricks. Time to move in on the more gullible third world!!
