But if you read the Old Testament you will find that a god did get very angry at times.

And as a result, large numbers of people in groups were wiped out - the good the bad and the ugly.

That is my point. If a god chooses to take revenge on some "bad" people with earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis - then a lot of "innocent" lives are lost.

It is the same situation when many civilians are killed at time of war. I don't think that is a good thing.

John Boy

You're right Peter in that the death of innocents is not a good thing but who is to know who are innocent? The difference is that for the saved there is no death and for the rest they will wish there was.

Bad stuff happens and that's just a mix of the forces that make the planet habitable and men doing nasty or stupid things. Gays get aids more than hetros for example - actions, consequences.

peter

Your analogy is false.

And who are the "saved" in this context.

peter, what makes your moral judgement superior to God's? It's the classic mistake that Adam made. And yes, random things happen in this life. It does not mean randomness is all there is. There is hope, and life, and love in the care of our Maker.

peter

My moral judgement is more useful (and hence superior) to me than any god's because I do not assume or discern there to be a god making such judgements.

Adam of course - pure myth sorry. Evoluton just did not start with a guy like that trying to make moral judgements! We should all recognise that. Even Ian recognises that young earth creationism is a load of codswallop.

There is of course hope, life and love without reference to any gods. In fact of the three, sometimes I can detect only life among the extreme right wing Christian fundamentalists that engage in debate here.

Evidence points to evolution as being more of a "myth".

Particular with all the supressed anomolies of Human artifacts which keep putting a dent in the standard 'theory'!

Homo Sapien remains found in strata a lot older than Neanderthal Man. In the same place!

Homo Erictus and Homo Habilis now appeared to live side by side in a recent finding in Kenya.

So on and so forth!
