E-mails indicate EPA suppressed report skeptical of global warming

The Environmental Protection Agency may have suppressed an internal report that was skeptical of claims about global warming, including whether carbon dioxide must be strictly regulated by the federal government, according to a series of newly disclosed e-mail messages.

Less than two weeks before the agency formally submitted its pro-regulation recommendation to the White House, an EPA center director quashed a 98-page report that warned against making hasty "decisions based on a scientific hypothesis that does not appear to explain most of the available data."

Thanks, Acid - sometimes, just sometimes when there is a 'conspiracy theory' there is, in fact, a conspiracy. Or a lot of little conspiracies...

"Thanks, Acid - sometimes, just sometimes when there is a 'conspiracy theory' there is, in fact, a conspiracy. Or a lot of little conspiracies..."

Yeah Robk.

And what's even more disturbing is the fact the Congress passed Obama's Climate Change Bill by only 219 for and 212 against. So not an overwhelming support for the Bill.

It appears Congress wasn't allowed to read or properly scrutinize the overhyped 1200 Page Climate Change Bill before it was passed.

Talk about Kangaroo Court Democracy. Passing a Bill before you've had a chance to look at it!

The Obamites have done a lot of that lately.

Anyway. There's a very good chance the Bill will be defeated in the Senate according some reports.

Oh Dear.

I see Hot Topic has it's nickers in the twist.

After lastnights news item on Keisha Castle Hughes and Greenpeace's Propaganda mission to the Cook Islands and TV3 news reporter Samantha Hayes comment. "While the science was far from settled".

TV3 needs to take stock

It was about time for once TV3 was a bit more objective with it's AGW reporting!

I wonder if the fact that Arizona has had so far their coldest summer since 1913 anything to do with this? Temperatures have been averaging 10/11C below there averages for this time of the year there.

Arizona Looks to Outlaw Global Warming Legislation

One state looks to ensure its citizens do not have to pay for climate change efforts

Climate change is a controversial topic. Some believe man is causing the world to warm. Others point out that the Earth has undergone solar warming and cooling for millions of years and that current temperatures are well within historic levels. A recent report challenging AGW theory showed significant support with 31,478 U.S. researchers and scientists, many of whom hold Ph.D's, signing a statement that they believe that man has not played a part in the current warming trend.

Arizona is now close to becoming the first state to outlaw climate change legislation. The state Senate voted Monday, 19-10 to approve a bill banning the Department of Environmental Quality from enacting or enforcing measures with language pertaining to climate change. The bill is now awaiting House approval.

So thats the story about Arizona Acid..

What about Texas, Oklahoma, North Dakota, Wyoming, Rhode Island, Florida, Utah, Wisconsin ...

What are their weather forecasts for the weekend?

So NZ had a cold June aswell. Average daily temperatures between 1.5-2.5C below normal.

Well July seems to be unseasonably warm so far Acid! Usually our coldest month.

Right now it is raining outside and the temperature is mild indeed - its about 18 degrees C in my room going on to midnight.

What is the weather forecast like for the next few days?

"Well July seems to be unseasonably warm so far Acid! Usually our coldest month.

Apart from today. Early July has so far been nearly as cold as June in my part of Semi-Rural Sth.AK. I've lived in a lot colder parts of the country over the years.

Of interest.

My all time newest record for the coldest ever temperature recorded since living back in NZ for 35+ years was set on June the 23rd.

Temperatures were taken at 8.15 AM

1C indoor temperature. (Living room)
-3C outdoor temperature.

June 22nd was the previous new record. Taken 8.20 AM

1.5C indoor temperature. (livingroom)
-2.5C outdoor temperature.

Indoor daily peak temperatures without heating. Were struggling to get over 10C for June.

This should warm things up. :-)

SUDDEN SUNSPOT: What a difference 48 hours can make. Only two days ago the sun was blank and calm, displaying the sort of unrelenting quiet we've come to expect from the deepest solar minimum in a century. Then, with startling rapidity, sunspot 1024 burst onto the scene: movie. Unlike other recent "sun-specks", this active region is a full-fledged sunspot group with more than a dozen planet-sized dark cores, crackling with B- and C-class solar flares.

"Sunspot 1024 is putting on a spectacular show," says amateur astronomer David Tyler of Buckinghamshire UK, who caught it in mid-flare on July 5th:

Hysteria is the real threat, not global warming

With Tony Blair launching his own plan to save the world (groans), and the G8 leaders also unveiling their thoughts about global warming, this is a big week for environmental fanaticism.
Whatever he or they offer, it will not be enough to quell the warmists' semi-religious fervour.
They are like medieval preachers, proclaiming to baying crowds that the end of the word is nigh.

Earth's 'Fever' Breaks! Global temperatures 'have plunged .74°F since Gore released An Inconvenient Truth'

Sunday, July 05, 2009By Marc Morano – Climate Depot

The latest global averaged satellite temperature data for June 2009 reveals yet another drop in the Earth's temperature. This latest drop in global temperatures means despite his dire warnings, the Earth has cooled .74°F since former Vice President Al Gore released "An Inconvenient Truth" in 2006.

According to the latest global satellite data courtesy of the University of Alabama in Huntsville and made into an easy to read graph by "For the record, this month's Al Gore / 'An Inconvenient Truth' Index indicates that global temperatures have plunged approximately .74°F (.39°C) since Gore's film was released," noted (See satellite temperature chart here with key dates noted, courtesy of - Also see: 8 Year Downtrend Continues in Global Temps)

Gore -- who is fond of saying the Earth has a "fever" -- has not yet addressed the simple fact that global temperatures have dropped since the release of his global warming film. (Gore has also not addressed this: Another Moonwalker Defies Gore: NASA Astronaut Dr. Buzz Aldrin rejects global warming fears: 'Climate has been changing for billions of years' - Moonwalkers Defy Gore's Claim That Climate Skeptics Are Akin To Those Who Believe Moon Landing was 'Staged')

A record cool summer has descended upon many parts of the U.S. after predictions of the "year without a summer." There has been no significant global warming since 1995, no warming since 1998 and global cooling for the past few years. (Also see: Scientists Write Open Letter to Congress: 'Earth has been cooling for ten years' - 'Present cooling was NOT predicted by the alarmists' computer models, and has come as an embarrassment to them' - July 1, 2009)

Solar Physicist Predicts Ice Age. What happened to global warming?

Timo Niroma, a physicist from Finland, publishes a Solar Report each month. He has given his permission to use it and distribute it to all so here it is. It will be a regular feature here and I hope you look forward to it as much as I do. The report is not written in the usual user-friendly way, but is rather intended for scientists that are familiar with the information contained in it. I will attempt to simplify and explain the details of the report and how it could impact you and, of course, Al Gore and company. As the predictions come true, as I assume they will, the green lobby will go on unemployment compensation. Let's start at the beginning and take it piece by piece.

The progressions illustrate that there is a similarity between the years prior to the Dalton, and the minimum leading up to the cycle #24 but lower than those leading up to the Dalton.

Next is an interesting list of Climatic periods in our past on Earth, all of which correlate with solar parameters at the time. Folks back then recorded a tremendous amount of information about the Sun and there were also proxy measurements available.

"Well, there was the 300-year Roman Optimum in 100 BC to AD 200, the 200-year
oscillation 200-900 (200 cold, 300 warm, 400 cold, 600-900 cold), the 300-year
Medieval Optimum 900-1200 (with some colder spells plus warm aftermaths), the
300-year Little Ice Age 1400-1700, the 300-year "Global Warming" 1700-2005 (with
some drawbacks especially in the 1800's). A NEW LIA WITH SPÖRER AND MAUNDER IN

That's 300 years of cold, in case you missed it! The Maunder minimum was the bottom of the Little Ice Age from which all IPCC temperature charts begin. That is because it was coldest then and makes the warming look worse. Had they started their charts during the Medieval Warm Period (MWP) we would be wondering why it is still so cool. Like when are we going to get to the good stuff.

This is all nonsense. The world leaders who have been meeting over the last few days are under no illusions whatsoever. Emissions must be drastically curtailed.

Action not religion is the answer.

I'm sorry, I wasn't aware religious activity was being offered as a counter to climate change, except by liberal left-wing churches ironically.

You may be right there Ian.

However I think that Christian fundamentalists just CAN'T believe that humans, that currently have "dominion" over the Earth, would be capable of stuffing up the whole planet.

Funders like Exxon on the other hand seek to defer the inevitable.

We want better from governments and with the example of Obama, this is what we are seeing.

Meanwhile look at how your heroine is falling Ian:

The Reason She Matters

I'm getting lots of emails telling me to move on. I will. But I want to explain why I think the Palin drama is actually important. It's not because of her: she's a delusional, narcissistic and disturbed person who would be voted off a reality show in the first rounds. It's because of John McCain, the Republican establishment and the mainstream media. What happened last fall was a warning sign to all of us about how corrupt and cynical the GOP, McCain and the MSM are. They colluded in such a way that this unstable, erratic, know-nothing beauty queen could actually have been president of the United States. What matters is that all those in on this scam be exposed and their way of conducting themselves be reformed until they stop risking the fate of the country and the world on their own vanities and cowardice.

McCain knew full well that Palin was unqualified to be commander-in- chief at this period of time; and he knew there was no way she could ever learn enough to do the job. So his decision to pick her was pure cynicism and irresponsibility. The MSM knew full well that there were very serious questions about this unknown person's background, lies, mental stability, and secrecy - but they were so terrified of being called biased they refused to do the proper vetting.

The Republican establishment has long condescended to the pro-life, anti-gay, de facto soclialist, de iure capitalist heartland voters - and they cynically believed they had found a formula to get them to vote for McCain on ground of pure class resentment and sex appeal to older white males. Even sane decent people like Matt Scully and Mark MacKinnon signed up. Peggy Noonan was caught lying on national television. The convention was a surreal implosion. I agree with Richard Cohen this morning:

Naming Palin to the GOP ticket -- a top-down choice by McCain -- was the most reckless decision any national politician has made in the longest time, and while it certainly says something about McCain, it says even more about his party. It has lost its mind.

The reason we need to get to the truth of what happened is that these people nearly took this country off a cliff. They need to be held accountable. They need to be removed from their positions of power. We cannot move on until they are. And John McCain should retire from public life. After that decision, nothing he says can be taken seriously on the national or international stage.

Climate Change is a religion!

Man can't cause 90% of the global Climate to Change. It's impossible!

Man can't stop Volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis and we sure as hell cant stop climate change. It's fantasyland material!

Global warming alarmism enriches Gore, bankrupts the rest of us

Let us begin today with full disclosure: For those who don't know my position on global warming alarmism and its insidious uses, it is that this phenomenon is the greatest hoax in modern times and is being used to achieve things - bad things - quite apart from its ostensible goal of "saving the planet." Al Gore wanders the spheroid he is determined to save, spouting increasingly inane observations as his bank account grows and his "carbon footprint" becomes ever more Godzilla-like, considering all the jet fuel burned as he hurtles from appearance to appearance. I have read that his speaking fee is now $175,000 a pop, a fee for which his audiences are fed what seems to me to be an amazing concoction of lies, distortions and flights of fancy.

The other day, in a speech given in Oxford before the Smith School World Forum on Enterprise and the Environment, the former American vice president, Nobel Peace Prize recipient and Oscar winner likened the battle against what he now calls climate change (perhaps because the globe is no longer warming and lots of people are aware of that) to the fight decades ago against the Nazis.
