Ian

I did not think making a lot of money for a lot of people would an anathema to you!

National Party > private enterprise >privatisation!

fletch

Here's an interesting quote from Eisenhower -

Epigraph
The prospect of domination of the nation’s scholars by federal
employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever
present—and is gravely to be regarded. Yet, holding scientific
research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must always
be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could
itself become a captive of a scientific-technological elite.
—President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Farewell Address,
January 17, 1961

ps, go get em!!

fletch

ps, it's funny how it is mostly (or seems mostly) the Lefties who are into this human caused Climate Change lark; one has to ask why. They seem to be the ones who like the idea of the State, or some other governing body (The U.N) running things. It's part of their Socialist, Marxist philosophy.

Get Real

"The government is too “programmed” on course to accept any new innovative revelations from anyone."

All the revelations are bad. e.g.

Wheat gets worse as CO2 rises.
http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn17617-wheat-gets-worse-as-co2-rises.html

You may have thought that the silver lining of rising carbon dioxide levels would be a boost in crop yields. But evidence is mounting that we may trade quantity for quality.

The discovery that staple crops like wheat have less protein when grown in high concentrations of CO2 has already caused concern, but the bad news doesn't stop there ...

On the other hand:

Agriculture (Species -- Wheat: CO2 vs. Stress of Drought) -- Summary
--------------------------------------------------------
Atmospheric CO2 enrichment typically enhances photosynthesis and biomass production in wheat plants under normal growing conditions (see, for example, our Subject Index Summaries pertaining to Agriculture (Species - Wheat: Photosynthesis and Biomass). But what happens when environmental conditions are less than ideal? In this brief recapitulation of the results of studies for which we have produced Journal Reviews, we report on what has been learned when lack of water limits the growth of wheat.
In a study of the ecosys crop growth model, Grant et al. (1999) compared their model calculations of wheat biomass production in response to elevated CO2 at high and low soil moisture contents with observed values measured in a FACE experiment conducted on spring wheat grown at atmospheric CO2 concentrations of 350 and 500 ppm near Maricopa, Arizona, USA. They report that in that very realistic experimental study, the observed CO2-induced percentage increases in biomass were determined to be 10% in the high soil moisture regime but 18% in the low soil moisture regime.

In a subsequent FACE study conducted at the same location, Li et al. (2000) grew wheat plants at close to the same CO2 concentrations (370 and 550 ppm) under well-watered conditions and a water-stressed regime where the plants received only 50% as much irrigation water as the well-watered plants; and in this case, much as in the prior study, the CO2-enriched well-watered plants exhibited a grain weight increase of 14%, while the CO2-enriched water-stressed plants experienced a grain weight increase of 24%. At the same time, in an ancillary study of the same wheat crop, Wall (2001) observed that as the amount of moisture in the soil decreased, leaf water potentials of the CO2-enriched plants were always higher (less negative) than those of the ambiently-grown plants, as a consequence of CO2-induced improvements in both drought avoidance and drought tolerance. In fact, during the driest part of this two-year study, the CO2-enriched plants in the "dry" irrigation treatment exhibited leaf water potentials that were similar to those measured on ambiently-grown plants in the "wet" irrigation treatment

Half Of World's Population Could Face Climate-induced Food Crisis By 2100
ScienceDaily (Jan. 9, 2009) — Rapidly warming climate is likely to seriously alter crop yields in the tropics and subtropics by the end of this century and, without adaptation, will leave half the world's population facing serious food shortages, new research shows.

robk

Looks like people will have to change from eating rice to eating wheat! :-D

Science Daily has become yet another AGW Alarmist 'Pulp Science' outfit.

Get Real.

Can you tell me this. Why is man responsible for or this Climate catastrophe?

I'm a Climate Realist.

Global Human activity doesn't= even 10% of all CO2 emissions!!

Get Real

Global Human activity doesn't= even 10% of all CO2 emissions!!

Ahahahaha… For a realiest you have a very unreal understanding of the situation.

Firstly, human emissions have increased CO2 concentration upwards of 40% since Industrialisation.

Secondly, the total Net natural CO2 flux over any year is absolutley ZERO. How do we know? We know because there was no net CO2 increase in the atmosphere during human history prior to industrialisation. And we know that through the analysis of trapped air bubbles, in ice, amber, rock inclusions, bottles, etc. etc. etc.

Your comment is as silly as claiming that the trickle of water into your sink is insignificant and isn’t increasing the water level because the waves you are making while doing the dishes are larger than the average rate of increase.

Actually. I've been following the AGW BS Off and on for 20yrs.

It's a very shonky theory!

The computer models say it all. Garbage In Garbage Out!

It's the same BS we had rammed down our throats about the coming Ice Age in the 1970s.

Man cannot effect 90% of the Global Climate. It's a total absurdity.

Climate Changes that's the reality of the situation.

So I suggest you 'Get Real'!

Kelly

Acid comments at least you have the stamina/fortitude/foresight not to turn into a robot.

Because the herd are alive and kicking and as sheeplike as ever before.
The sheep, the honky retards smoking their pungent cigarettes are still running around for the brainless twits.

The twit-nation is alive and well .

Yeah,

That's the problem.

The funny thing though.

Their 'Pungent' smoking habit is contributing to CO2 emissions.

They need to cut back on them to save the Planet!

Get Real

Microscopic dots can't cause disease. It's a total absurdity.

Mack

Acid,
I've also been looking at the AGWbs for about 20yrs.and nowhere in that time has any of these tossers come up with a single shred of evidence that CO2 itself, let alone ACO2, causes an increase in global temp. From what I've seen the true believers have really got their work cut out to prove any warming at all!

peter

I've lost touch on the original question. Any progress on legal front? Apologies? Settlements?

Jayne

Oh look who’s just hopped in the door ‘Peter Rabbit’ with his fluffy little tail in tow!
Where’s your carrots Peter, stuffed in your pockets??

Of Interest:

Earth blows big fart, global warming alarmists run for cover!
Nothing natural that happens on this planet is immune from finger-pointing by global warming alarmists as evidence of their theory that we are committing suicide. Rain too much? Global warming. Too little? Global warming? Too hot? Too cold? Hurricanes? Lack of hurricanes? It's all the same to the alarmist. Anything that they perceive to be different than "normal," whatever that means anyway, is blamed on the naturally occurring compound CO2, which is necessary for all vegetation to survive. Just to put things in perspective with regard to CO2, it is a scientific fact that all known greenhouse gases comprise only about 3% of our atmosphere.

BTW Ian, What does TBR.cc mean?

peter

Thank you for the warm welcome Jayne but my question was sincere.

IF I had dates for a public hearing on this case, I would try to arrange annual leave. I love winners.

Hope all is on track Ian.

"What does TBR.cc mean"

The Briefing Room.

Not sure why ".cc"
