Are glaciers uniformly receding?

It's often claimed that glaciers are receding, and this is supposed to be taken as proof of human-caused climate change.But as one essayist is pointing out, not all glaciers are receding at all, and not all glaciers are monitored by the World Glacier Monitoring Service...

Glaciers by their nature have, are now, and always will move, albeit slowly.
Even if they were all receding at the melt end (they are not) it would still not be Empirical Evidence of Human causation.
In the same vain, even if Climate Computer Models could predict Climate accurately (they cannot) it would still not be Empirical Evidence of Human causation.

The Franz Josef and Fox glaciers in South Westland have been advancing for nearly 30 years now I believe. These glaciers could be important in understanding how climate can increase snow fall even during potential warming. It is interesting hearing how AGW believers try and explain this away, not realising that citing increased precipitation due to warming can also mean glaciers in Antarctica could gain mass through exactly the same process.

Any time you hear a sweeping, simplistic statement about the real world, you can pretty much assume it is wrong. Even sea level does not go up and down evenly around the world because the overlying air masses also vary, some regions typically and consistently difference from the rest (I believe the Indian Ocean High might be a good example).

The problem is that, as soon as you start qualifying the answer, the listener starts to detect that the observation should be taken with reason and not with alarm - a totally rational approach.

Alarmists are crippled by the real world.

Unfortunately. It appears to be yet another 'whitewash, AGW/CC 'jackup/swindle/fraud' of the temp record as claimed by Muller.

Even the Co-author of the project is distancing herself from Muller's claims. Climate Scientist Judith Curry.

Besides the claims from Muller haven't even been peer reviewed either!

Well the inconvenient truth was even Muller's own BEST temp data showed NO statitical warming . Basically flat for the recent last decade or so. 11-13yrs depepending on interpretation of the data.

That of course was 'deceitfully' left off the original Temp graph and PR press release on the BEST data.

That was one of the reasons for the spat that broke out between Judith Curry and Muller. They've since apparently kissed and made up. :-)

The tribalistic corruption of peer review – the Chris de Freitas incident

From New Zealand Climate Change, this goes beyond “noble cause corruption”. This is outright malicious interference with the scientific process, and it’s damned ugly. I can’t imagine anyone involved in professional science who could stand idly by and not condemn this.
